College application.what does this mean? Topic: writing a statement of purpose
June 20, 2019 / By Annette
Question: I am applying to a university. on the application, one of the topics for writing an essay says: "The statement of purpose will provide an opportunity to explain any extenuating circumstances that you feel could add value to your application" what does this mean? am i supposed to explain any bad events that happened or describe any lesser known event to them...i'm confused because it later (in the same topic) says that "You may also want to explain unique aspects of your academic background or valued experiences you may have had that relate to your academic discipline." any help would really be appreciated, thanks!!

"The statement of purpose will provide an opportunity to explain any extenuating circumstances that you feel could add value to your application" Means-explain activities out the norm you do that adds great value to your academics or self. Something you are proud of. Both sentences, seem to mean the same. What they are seeking is something that your willing to work hard for, give back or improve on and that you are dedicated to it. Hope this helps.

Depending on where you are staying, each country's college application is different from another. Usually, you can request for a college application from the University website or through email. If you are in the states, your high school guidance counselor may be able to help you through it. You will need your academic records, a personal essay or sample of your high school papers, a few letters of recommendation (depending on colleges), you ECA. Some college require your SAT and/or ACT results as well. The colleges in the states also have people who can help you to fill up the applications. Be aware of the deadlines for application as each college is different. In Britain and many former British colonies, the best colleges will even have interviews and further testings for the applicants. This may or may not be the same for the states.

Its an essay about you. Your supposed to make yourself sound interesting, you dont have to talk about traumatic experiences or anything. I've always thought statements of purpose were stupid. What is unique about your life experience? Your probably thinking the same thing that I always thought when I had to write these.... nothing. lol

i grew to become into taught that worldwide warming (which some people evaluate a "liberal" concept) is a actuality. in actuality, my professor listed a team of climatology professors at my college who have self assurance that worldwide warming provides a considerable subject, and additionally gave us a catalogue of people who did not. the 2nd checklist grew to become into empty. We additionally wrote papers approximately worldwide warming wherein we've been to analyze the peer-reviewed medical literature against it. It seems there wasn't very lots and maximum of it have been rebutted. (it quite is unquestionably suited. There easily is a medical consensus on worldwide warming.) I additionally had a philosophy professor as quickly as argue for god's existence. (not in basic terms modern-day the oftentimes happening arguments, yet easily argue for them.) i'm exceedingly beneficial he grew to become right into a believer. those are the only 2 circumstances i will think of of that relate subsequently some distance. each little thing else grew to become into taught devoid of any style of bias.

They look at your application and transcript. Therefore, they see that you took AP classes, but they concentrate on your cumulative gpa, ACT or SAT score, activities, and essays most of all. I don't think they take AP scores into account.
