Brands do not matter because these so called "pc manufactures (like dell, hp acer etc..) do not actually manufacturer much of anything. other companies manufacture the internal and in a lot of times the outer case itself. These other companies (AMD, Intel Nvidia etc...) make parts for almost all personal computers (macs are personal computers as well). So the brand has little meaning because the only true difference between one computer and the next is just the case, which changes the way it looks. Of course, more expensive computers generally have better hardware (except for Macs, which have below average hardware for the price point) Point being, buy the laptop with the best specifications at your desirable price point.

Do you mean it is extra-wide as measured accross the front, or is 13" the diagonal screen size? If you can provide an exact model # and height/width/depth measurements, I would be willing to try to research it for you (I'm bored). EDIT: Well I guess I can't be of any help afterall. I have zero experience with purchasing laptop cases from specific companies/websites. : (

http://tinyurl.com/3x4xndh Google it. Seriously. GOOGLE IT! I nor Jack am being sarcastic. And 13" is no way "extra wide". My smallest laptop is 15" and that's the norm.

Try checking to make sure you laptop's HDMI port isn't disabled for some reason. Press Start (A.K.A the windows logo)>Right click 'Computer'>Click 'Manage'>In the left panel click 'Device Manager' If any of your hardware devices are disabled or not working they will appear with a yellow exclamation mark, or a red 'X' sign near them. If everything looks normal then the HDMI port could be managed by a separate application that has it disabled, and you'll have to figure out what the application is first to be able to access it's settings.
