Question: I want to make a written statement that he still owes me, saying that he pay it in three weeks... Are there any templates for that, so I don't have to make upo my own? Can you think of anything important that I should include in the statement?

Make a bill of sale, stating how much has been paid, how much is owed, and that the title will be released upon full payment. List the name and address of buyer/seller. Date of sale will be when the final payment is made, not before. After completing the sale, file a Notification of Sale with the DMV, this last step is likely the most important one for you. If the buyer fails to transfer title in a timely manner, and the car is involved in anything illegal, this document will protect you. Do not give the title to the buyer until he has paid in full. If you give it to him before, he can simply ignore your plea for payment, and transfer title into his name.

If you have already sold the car, it's a little late to be thinking about any kind of agreement for him to sign regarding payment of any additional money. When I buy a new car I never trade my old one in because you can always get a better deal if you sell your old car yourself. I try to arrive at a fair asking price by consulting the Kelley Blue Book online. Then when I have a buyer who wants the car I tell him/her that he needs to test drive it thoroughly (with me along with him) since I am unable to give him any kind of warranty on the car. When payment is made I require either cash, a money order or a bank certified check. Then I have an agreement covering the details of the sale, including the no warranty provision, that all parties to the transaction must sign. A lot of times the buyer will want me to pay the sales tax and fees, but these are traditionally expenses for the buyer and I tell him no.

hi you let him take the car?? don't let him have the car until you have all the money .. dint give him the title or anything.. Once he has the car he may never pay you especially if he has the title. You can make up your own sales receipt saying .. Make model age of car Vin number I......( your name) sell the above car to .... ..( His name) on.... ( date you sold it) ..... For the amount of............. ( His name ) Paid .......... amount and will pay the remainder.............$450 By .. date you want the money. Upon receipt of the full amount... I ( your name) will give the car and the title to... (His name..) The amount of ( what ever he gave you) ... is a non refundable deposit. The car is sold as is with no warranty or guarantee given , offered or implied. The sale is final. Both you and him sign and date it.. Good luck !!

you should include in this letter how much he paid you and how much he owe you and if he don't have it paid off by a specific date that you can come back and take the car and he will not get any money return, and make sure you both sign it and date it.And you may want to include the condition of the car is in before you sell it to him.

I think unless he is a personal friend of yours, you should never have handed over the keys if you don't have all the money. Also, I hope you submitted a release of liability to the DMV which states you are no longer in possession of or responsible for the car just in case he doesn't go re-register it in his name right away. Otherwise parking tickets, accidents, etc. will all be on you! Good luck!

It was insenstive of your father to say that to you, but you don't say what you were complaining about, he may have had good reason. When someone thinks the world owes them something, it means that they do not take responsibility for their own actions, they do not take responsibility for their own needs, they always expect someone else to take care of them. Or they think that their problems are always the fault of others instead of their own doing. So consider what you were saying to your dad, and ask yourself if you weren't instead just wanting sympathy and to be bailed out by someone else instead of solving your own problems.
