I normally use contacts, and i have a pair of glasses i use in case any emergencies. but my glasses are super old, and the prescription in them are lower than the ones in my contacts. i have 4.50 in one, n 5.00, myopia. so i was wondering if they could use the same numbers for new glasses, of do i have to get a test. im obviously going to the optic in a few days, but i just wanna know ahead of time :P thnx!

prescription differs as the distance between your eyes and the glasses is not the same as contacts, the difference is NOT huge, maybe 0.25 or something, but yes there's a difference.
A glasses prescription is different than a contact lenses prescription. The contact lenses prescription is usually smaller than the glasses prescription because they usually alter the numbers a bit. You definitely should get an updated test if you want to get a newer pair of glasses.
Eyeglass prescriptions are written for eyeglasses. Contact lens prescriptions are determined for contacts. The numbers may be different or teh same.
