Is this what Science has degenerated to under the Climate Change Regime? Does it get any worse?
Topic: How to draw a conclusion in science
July 18, 2019 / By Janis Question:
Leading climate doomsayer Michael Mann recently downplayed the importance of climate-change science, telling Democrats that data and models “increasingly are unnecessary” because the impact is obvious.
“Fundamentally, I’m a climate scientist and have spent much of my career with my head buried in climate-model output and observational climate data trying to tease out the signal of human-caused climate change,” Mr. Mann told the Democratic Platform Drafting Committee at a hearing.
“What is disconcerting to me and so many of my colleagues is that these tools that we’ve spent years developing increasingly are unnecessary because we can see climate change, the impacts of climate change, now, playing out in real time, on our television screens, in the 24-hour news cycle,” he said.
Mr. Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Penn State, spoke before the committee June 17 in Phoenix, Arizona.
First it was: We have all the data
Then it was, Well, some of the data is wrong, and some things aren't happening as a matter of fact the opposite, and yes there is contradictory findings and then ...
They were caught cheating
Now, its the data and models don't matter.
Interesting kind of science.
NONSENSE. If what Mann says is true, then The earth itself is the model and we could observe it real time and draw conclusions, but we can't. Mann knows it. Looking around gives us ZERO predictive ability about climate in 100 or 1000 years from now.

It is hard to mock Mann when James and Gary make Mann look rational. Geesh Louise and GC gave me a good laugh as well for his insightful comment. Science got dragged into the sewer when leftists tried to distort it to push their agenda and now we have wacko leftists defending the distortions. It's good for a laugh sometimes but it makes me scratch my head how people get so far off the beaten path.

Most people are ignorant, on both sides of the spectrum.
From what I understand, we may have already enacted a global climate change from which there is no coming back from. If that is the case, then those who want to do something about it now are too late.
However, those who deny it are almost entirely ignorant altogether, because even the government has admitted to its existence. The CIA has even published a report predicting that the increase in climate temperature by the year 2025, will increase the likelihood of mass deaths and terrorist activities.
I accuse you of bad faith, the worst fault in a citizen pretending interest in the public good.
You know very well that Mann's statement intended to say that the evidence is clear to the naked eye and does not really need climate data.
You perverted that statement to mean that Mann no longer believes in climate models supported by data.
Dishonesty is the worst possible sin against democracy.
Go bang your head against the wall five times as punishment for this crime against America.
Why do you hate America?

Mann has finally lost it. We don't need no steenkin' science. It is obvious to everyone he claims.
What b*ll*cks! Gary and James are fast disappearing down the same path by the sound of it.
Temperatures have changed much faster in the past without our help. Is that not correct?
I hope Mann, when he and his fellow citizens watch the TV, can factor out the recent El Niño.
He is starting to believe his own publicity. Many "stars" suffer from that.
Just what is it that is unprecedented about current climate? I have followed the discussions with interest for a number of years and no-one has ever had a good answer.

Yet again we have an example of Deniers being so driven by their paranoid delusions that they have lost touch with reality. Mann is clearly saying that climate change is happening so much faster and stronger than most scientists expected that you don’t need science to know that it is real.
And your ‘update’ is nothing but repeated Deniers lies. There has never been one piece of scientific evidence that contradicts AGW and no one (except Deniers) has been caught cheating.

Mann should be stripped of all academic credentials and benefits and relegated to a career in the fast-food or housekeeping industries.

Originally Answered: Why do republicans think that climate change is a hoax when majority of scientific community agree on climate change?
The right wing politicians have been bought by billionaire industrialists like the Koch Bros. who know it's cheaper to donate to their campaigns than it would be to clean up their acts.
Plus, the right wing is anticipated to be on the wrong side of history because it's too stubborn to admit when it's wrong.
These right wing politicians think they know more than the people w/ doctorate degrees in meteorology, earh science etc.
"The study is the most comprehensive yet and identified 4000 summaries, otherwise known as abstracts, from papers published in the past 21 years that stated a position on the cause of recent global warming -- 97 per cent of these endorsed the consensus that we are seeing human-made, or anthropogenic, global warming (AGW)"
The sad part is, it's not "IF" man is accelerating climate change that may or may not be reversible w/ his contamination of the environment, he should be respecting the only planet he has by raising the bar on pollution standards as a common sense matter of course.
The stakes are too high to be gambling with.
