Wondering if I should give this poem to a friend I really like. Give your opinion and any advice. Thanks? Topic: How to write a poem about your best friend

Question: So I'm 15 and a sophomore in highschool. I've been really close with a friend that I've known all my life. She's also 15, and I want to let her know how I feel about her. I wrote her this poem and I want to know if I should give it to her or not. Please no rude comments... I've never been the type to say what I feel So basically I keep everything inside And with you it was no different I want to tell you, believe me I've tried But there's part of me that just can't take that chance So I doubt that you'll ever know Which may be fine with you, but it's hurting me I choose not to show it though I guess I'm your secret admirer That name seems to fit just right I don't know what I like about you But you're on my mind, day and night I got caught in your love And Maybe you're right Maybe we are better off friends Maybe things won't ever be the same Maybe my feelings won't change My body aches at the sound It could be the way you look So beautiful I can't get enough Or how you make me feel when you come around I instantly forget all other stuff Maybe it's the way you say my name Or maybe it's the way you smile Then again it might just be everything Getting to know you seems worth my while But I guess I'll never know what it is My true feelings I could never reveal to you I'll just admire you from a distance I'm not sure what else there is to do

Very poignant, I like this poem a lot. It is so easy to see times where this has happened with all of us, leading to us feeling it is personal to us without losing the fact it is someone else's turn this time. Great penmanship well done. =D

For a 15 year old girl it maybe a little too much for her. Poems are usually written for when perhaps half a year or more has passed, she may get turned off even if she do have feelings for you, 15 is a little young to analyse so much sentiments written in one such poem, she may not be able to appreciate it better. I am not saying that it is bad, but I suggest other options, one I feel rather better is to tell her straight up how you feel, be it online, in a text message or person to person, it will definitely work out better! The initial phase is usually slow, nervous and heart-pounding etc etc, but once you get passed it, you realise that it is all worth it, for the sake of happiness! Good luck and all the best.

I think you have real talent. But I have to ask.... Is this poem about sex? If not, it really does sound like a sexual metaphor. I would Just work with it a little more if you are in doubt. That's what I do when I write, I read it over to myself a few times, and make the necessary changes. You will know when you've got it right.

It's actually pretty good, seriously. The only thing is that - and maybe it's just kind of late - if I hadn't read the tittle, I would have thought it was some type of erotic poem. Or was that your intent? 1 more thing. If you are turning this in, make sure you read it yourself -and make sure you read it well. A lot of times you can improve or even degrade the quality of the poem by the way you read it. Oh, and try saying the tittle in the end; it would sound better/clever.
