Postcards from Yo momma is a US-based site, set up by Jessica and Doree in March 2008. The pair were swopping hilarious emails that their respective mums had sent to them. This tickled them so much that they decided to set up a website to see if people would send them email and chat messages from their own mothers.

“We soon realized we might be onto a sort of essential mom-ness that wasn’t just idiosyncratic to our own mothers—we had inadvertently stumbled on something that was universal. Since that day in March 2008, we’ve gotten over 5,000 emails from unsuspecting mommas around the world. Of course, they were all sent to us by their children, all of whom were eager to share their moms’ particular brand of humor and wisdom with the rest of the world.”

A book, based on the submissions to the site will be published in April 2009.

The site is full of funny, poignant and downright odd emails from mums all over the world.
