An upturn
Our lovely planter outside of 97 Otago Street was off to a rocky start, when persons unknown tipped it over on its side last year, spilling its contents.
Quite a (dubious) feat to topple such a weighty container. It may not be too speculative to imagine that alcohol was involved, as though the reeling plants had a glug or two of discarded beer bottles, it’s safe to say they didn’t fall out themselves !
The planter was uprighted immediately, but it was rather scrambled by it’s jolt and the azalea, primulas and pansies half buried. We were gifted the planter by the Kelvingrove Parks Department, sadly missed from the end of Westbank Quadrant and Otago Street. The plants were donated by local residents and their families; the laurel and the azalea transplanted from our back court.
A thorough weeding, thinning and re-arranging has brightened the existing plants this weekend, with new additions of chrysanthemums and french marigolds.
This bright spot is not maintained or planted by the council, but by our residents. Help keep it a cheery sight on grey days.
