I have had my Aspire card closed for the past year and they STILL charge me $6.00 every month as a monthly account fee when I don't have an open account, I called and they wouldn't take that away. is there anything else I can do about this, I don't think it's fair to be paying for an account that I don't have anymore.

Do you still owe a balance? The account isn't really closed unitl the balance is paid in full. You just can't charge on it anymore. They are entitled to collect all fees and interest.
Find a way to pay the balance off completely. Then send them a letter requesting written confirmation that the account is closed and 0 balance. You want to keep that confirmation forever.

The only way you can have a monthly maintenance fee is if your account was not paid down to a zero balance, or the account was not closed. Call the company again and speak with a representative and inform them of the date and person you spoke with when you closed the account. If the maintenance fee had been charge before you called, sorry, but the account needed to be paid in full BEFORE you closed it.
Realize you may feel that you closed it, but I'm sure it still shows as open on your credit report, and these monthly fees as showing as delinquent. Better to clear this up since it is hurting your credit by ignoring it.

Send them a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating that you want the account closed. Keep all communication in this format. Aspire is a horrible card and they will rip you off any way they can.
Don't be surprised if they've kept your account open and that they're reporting you account as late to the credit bureaus. You can find out if they're doing this by pulling your credit report at the real free site: http://www.annualcreditreport.com

If you still owe a balance, then you still "have" the account - whether it is "open" or "closed" for new purchases.
