How hot is too hot inside the house? And do you think it has an affect on health? Topic: How homework affects health

Question: Today I went to pick up my daughter's two younger sisters while my daughter stayed home doing homework. I went up knocked on the door. When they opened the door OMG the heat from inside the apartment hit me in the face like opening an oven door. I looked over at the thermostat and it was 95 degrees inside their house. Not only that but when I told the younger of the 2 sisters to put her jacket on she brings me her winter coat to put on over her 2 fleece sweat shirts she already had on. They also have a 6 week old baby in the house. He was dressed in a onezie, blanket sleeper, and was covered up with a blanket on his grandma's lap. These kids are always sick and I do mean always. Cough, congestion, pneumonia, etc etc They always seem to be on some for of medication for some sickness. Going in there today made me wonder does having too hot of a house have any affect on a person's health? and in your opinion how hot is too hot inside your house?

Could be, I'm sure they're dehydrated from sweating if it's 95. That's like a sauna. Dehydration can cause all kinds of nasty symptoms and give anyone but particularly a child a general feeling of malaise. And if it's humid in there, that could definitely contribute to respiratory problems. It doesn't get that warm where I live, but I can't stand a room if it's over 75. I can't sleep if the temperature inside is over 65 at night, but about 50-55 is best for me at night, warm up to 65 during the day. I don't think I've ever turned a heater on in my life and we don't have air conditioning since it doesn't get hot very often. For the freak heat waves, I take lots of cold showers, eat cold foods and keep fans on.

Yes it can. The american academy of pediatrics recommends sleeping temperatures for baby to be no warmer than 68 degrees, too much warmer than that and you significantly increase the risk of SIDS. Not to mention it is probably miserable for that poor baby. I never keep our house any warmer than 70, and I set the thermostat down to 67 at night. Most people sleep better in cooler temperatures.

heat attracts bugs and other unwanted guests, bacteria, dust comes out of the vents (unless u opened them up and cleaned them), that kind of hair isn't good to breeze in to much because it is unnaturally heated when you inhale it and exhale it its carbon dioxide so that cant be good for you. Room temperature is warm enough..no more warmer

Well, I grew up in tropic temps and you get used to it. No AC. But you also need to dress accordingly as well. I'm more concerned about them overdressing their children in that heat than the heat itself.

Indiana Originally Answered: How will buying a house affect my parents food stamps?
It might affect them. Typically when you apply and qualify for food stamps, a case manager will look at the total number of dependents living in the home, total number of people living in the home, and how much total household income is being made by all members living in the home. I can only assume that they have children under the age of 18 still. I can also assume that you no longer live there. By having them move in with you (and once again I am assuming your spouse or significant other is helping you with the purchase of this home) it could affect the eligibility of their food stamps because they will count everyones income in the house as one to determine if you qualify for food stamps. Hope this helps!
