Anyone know any good resources to learn logic and critical thinking? Topic: News editor cover letter

Question: Anyone know any good websites to actually learn logic and critical thinking? Well, they offer logic and critical thinking classes in schools. The now disbanded Math Sequential 2 class in New York State was all logic if I remember clearly. T plus F equals F. If T is F and F is T the T is T. All that good stuff. I just was too young and stupid to see it's usefulness.

Critical thinking is something you "learn by doing" and takes years to develop. I can only offer these hints... * Be skeptical about information you receive, judge it by the source's past accuracy. * Look for evidence to support claims * Compare similar things. Don't compare an apple to an orange. * Ask questions. A lot of questions. * Be open to changing your mind * Consider other explanations for things * Don't make assumptions * Think about what's missing * Think about the overall "big picture" * Practice! (It hurts at first, but gets easier.) So when you read a newspaper article, you can evaluate the information source, judge whether it was fair or not by weighing the presented arguments by all sides, or question why some arguments are not present. You can ask how the article fits into the big picture they're trying to cover. You can wonder about all sorts of strange things that will cause you to read wikipedia and gain more insight. Newspapers and magazines are great for developing these skills because they have "letters to the editor" columns allowing readers to voice their questions and offer alternative views. Read enough of them, and you'll get a feel for how other people evaluate the same material. Of course, some have axes to grind, but over time you'll be able to spot them. They'll have weak arguments, which won't be backed up by properly analyzed and documented evidence. Logic (or "reasoning") tends to come from developing critical thinking skills.

You can't exactly learn logic... Solving puzzles and so on will help you with logic and critical thinking, but it's not really possible to learn them.

That would have to be the best thing I have read on this site.I do hope heaps of people read it as besides being really funny,it is very true, that its hard to put one over on the oldies. Most of the time they know what is going on but say nothing [its just part of their generation].It's not often an American can make a kiwi laugh, have a great day & thanks for the posting.

That mother is so smart to have found a way to see what goes on between John and Julie. Now she knows and J&J know she knows. Thanks, LeRoy, loved this story!
