My work didnt do my new employee paperwork & now wont pay me! What are my rights?

My work didnt do my new employee paperwork & now wont pay me! What are my rights? Topic: College paperwork
June 26, 2019 / By Issachar
Question: They said that I can't even work there until the paperwork is done but I had already worked there two weeks before they realized this! I came in for my check and they told me they couldn't pay me because none of my paperwork had been finished by them, so technically I have never been an employee. They told me they were rushing my paperwork and would pay me once it was finished... It's been 5 days & I'm a poor college student. There is 10 bucks in my savings account and no gas in my gas tank, I need food and I have to pay bills! What can I do?! I did my paperwork and gave it to them. but they never did anything with it...

Ask them for an advance on your pay while they get the paperwork through unless they expect to have your check in the next day or so. Good luck.

In reality, it will probably be quicker to wait for them to pay you. But you could file a complaint woth the Labor Comission of your state. or Sue in Small Claims Court Best to talk to them, explain your situation and ask for their help.

You can't force someone to work who doesn't want to, so rejecting a resignation does nothing to solve your problem. If this person falsified legal documents, criminal law can help to punish this person if it is applicable; if it is not, then basically it will just take time to fix what this employee did to harm the business.

Falsifying legal documents is a felony, this person should be facing criminal charges and consider themselves extremely lucky if they aren't. And a supervisor cannot force anyone to work, whether they accept the resignation or not the person can quit without being formally fired, just don't show up.
