I have the Sims 2 double deluxe. It was very fun and exciting at first, esp. the first week when I played it for the first time. But once I got into the hacks and everything.... But when I first used the hacks, it was fun too. Then IT GOT BORING. The Sims 2 double deluxe is fun if you're going to play family at a time, and not make multiple families. You're going to waste like your whole beloved weeks on a single family -taking them out to restaurants, dates, etc. Then it'll be fun. Don't be like me, jumping everywhere to families, trying to make the cutest (natural) mixed babies, because it will get boring. They're ugly, so don't modify the sims nose too much. I tried to make the perfect one, but once it goes in a mix, it becomes very ugly. Then, it will mess up the sim's face, and that Gene will become strong, and pass down to the next generation..Which I deleted the sim - what a waste of time. The Sims 3, from MY friend's perspective, said that it is addictive and fun. But it takes alot of your GBs and memory from your computer. Some people will have a long time loading sims 3 because it will make your computer slow, unless your computer is very brand new. Plus there's a lot of customizes and everything. But the 50 dollars, if you live in the U.S, is not worth it. I mean It better be hella perfect, because 50 dollars for a game is way too much. I suggest you to wait for a while before buying Sims 3 until it gets cheaper. I haven't bought mines yet, but my friend has one. I heard it's much fun too, because the personalities. They have completely customized ones, and you get to choose them, unlike Sims 2. Sims 3 is such a huge promotion from Sims 2 -- I mean the customizing + the price. But Sims 2 is worth the money and everything, it was more "realistic" looking, and just as addictive. So whatever you choose, they're Sims . The Sims company makes money off from whatever you buy from them, but they prefer you to buy their latest games because they want to show you their improved games and etc.. Hope this helped. :)

I would recommend the Sims 2 Double Deluxe. The Sims 2 has much better expansions to it and its the better buy in this case. The Sims 3 has some of the worst expansions I have seen in the Sims series. Sims 3 does have a few new fun features though, but Sims 2 is better in my opinion.
