Question: Heya (: I've been pretty ill lately & I've been eating about 400 calories a day for the past 4 or 5 days. I'm just about recovering. I don't feel sick anymore I just haven't really got my appetite back. So far today I've had about 200 calories (Don't try to tell me this is unhealthy, I appreciate your concern but I've been ill and it's not normal for me. I would think I eat pretty healthily :). But the thing is, eating like this has made me lose quite a bit of weight and I have heard that I need to gradually increase my food intake otherwise if I go back to eating 1800 calories a day I will gain more back! :O. (Sorry it's a long explanation..I'm almost done! :)) My family are going out tonight for a meal, it's several family members birthdays! My mum and dad don't want me to stay home alone, and they both really want to go. I've tried to tell them I'll be fine on my own but they don't like it. :( So, basically, if I go out, and eat a chicken ceasar salad (which I searched for and has about 700-1000 calories (I don't have much dressing)) So I'm just wondering, if I have that will it make me gain a lot of weight? I will go from eating about 400 calories for a few days to about 1000! I'm just wondering, because I don't want to make my parents stay home when they want to go! Thanks so much, sorry for the essay! :) xx

If you have the dressing on the side, and if the chicken is grilled or baked, you should be fine. And yes, you should start eating more gradually, more to avoid putting an unnecessary toll on your digestive system (which hasn't been too busy lately).

A few thoughts to consider: -Almost any kind of food can cause weight gain. It all depends on what your portion size is. SO, if you feel like you will ingest too many calories at one sitting, simply take half of the chicken caesar salad home with you. -Ok, so yes, you know already that 400 calories a day are insufficient. However, what you might not know is that consuming too few calories a day can also stop your body from losing weight. IF a person doesn't provide the body with enough of what it needs and calls for in the form of calories...it starts to slow your metabolism down because it goes into somewhat of a "survival" mode. It starts to conserve energy in the form of calories. SO, all this being said, my advice to you is to seek the help of a professional (nutritionist or dietician). They are knowledgable individuals that can help you achieve your optimal health goals....safely.

When you go out to eat just order 1 thing and take about 10 bites. Keep everyone talking, etc. When it's time to leave you parent's will probably worry because you didn't eat much but just say you aren't feeling well or something.. don't say "I'm not/wasn't hungry". The next day (not afterwards) keep going in to the kitchen when your parents are around and say stuff like "I'm soo hungry" etc. Take/make a bunch of food and take it into your room. Just throw it out later. Make sure you don't do this after going out to eat or your parents will be mad. I know I sound sick to some people, but it's how I live my life.

this plan will get you cut and also force the body to pile on pounds of muscle extremely fast - so first you need to put yourself in a calorie + carb deficit - 1600 per day ,50 grams max BUT you must keep your protein grams high AND drink PLENTY of water - around 300 is okay, whey, casein, normal good protein foods etc - limit saturated fat as much as possible , then workout intensively as normal for the NEXT 3 days in a row hitting different muscle groups each day but ALWAYS do some form of cardio immediately after as this will tap straight into your fat stores IF this is done on an empty stomach OR if just a drink of 8 egg whites is consumed about 30 mins prior(,rest on day 4 ) then continue with the workouts/nutrition plan for the final day - now things are going to be COMPLETELY REVERSED so a calorie surplus is about to enter the NEXT 5 days - so eat EACH DAY - 5000 calories at least, 750 grams of complex carbs,,protein is still good @ 300 ,water is VITAL so keep drinking loads, sat fat the same - now the workouts - just repeat what you did before but NO CARDIO WHATSOEVER afterwards for these mass building days, this will make the body OVERCOMPENSATE to an enormous degree as you have depleted it so much in the previous 5 days, the results will be a reduction of BF % and a metabolic shift to anabolism - around 18lbs of fat will be totally stripped off after 40 days and replaced with solid muscle - you just need to continue this as stated - 5 days deficit /5 days surplus, fast and easy..
