Question: my sister petition me for I30 which got approve oct 22 09 and its says there that " On October 22, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283. For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations" how long do i have to wait for me to receive the green card. how long does it usually take to go for the next step thank you!!! actually i have been waiting for 10 years now well i thought it would like take me a few months to go to states. we already sent them the documents they were asking. im just waiting for my visa how long does it usually take

this is just the first half of the greencard application. The second half is called adjustment of status (when you get the actual greencard) and it depends a bit what country you are from. But if your sister sponsored you it takes currently about 10 years before you can do the next step. If you are from Mexico or the Philippines it will take even longer.

MOST of the cases I have read about that end up this way have been approved. I can't speak for every case, but hopefully it's just something simple that they need to review, and you will have your approval soon. :)

Career Girl - I too went through the same thing. Why on earth did you have an attorney present?? We went without one and were told right at the interview everything went well. She did grill us for about an hour. What is an EAD card? Your lawyer should know through experience if the interview went well, it doesn't make any sense that he doesn't know and can't reasure you one way or the other. I think if you did not get your petition approved for a temporary green card they will ask you to return to your country. But if the marriage is an outright lie it is illegal and bad things could happen.
