MS Office Word opens too left of screen and cannot be accessed? Topic: Smart case shop
June 24, 2019 / By Howie
Question: I had 03 on there and was having this problem. Uninstalled 03, downloaded 07, still same problem. Access, Excel, Powerpoint, etc, all work, Word opens but you can see it going off to the left of the screen. You cannot right click the bottom where it says the name of the Document either. I desperately need if for school. What can I do to fix it. Oh yea, already called a few computer places and all they say is bring it in, naturally, they just want my money, and I can't afford to put it in the shop!! HELP PLEASE???

Can you drag the window to the right by grabbing the top border? If you're running Word in Full Screen, click the box next to the white X to go to Restore Down mode. I couldn't get the left side of a Word window to start out off the screen, even when I positioned it that way and closed Word. Word reuses the last screen position, but it was smart enough to move the left edge back onto the screen when it restarted. And I couldn't get the window to exceed the screen width, either, so it's not a case of "Well, one side or the other has to be off the screen." Good luck.

bit tough if you can't right click the task manager. try changing the screen area to a bigger space. if you have only one monitor and the settings are set to two, then switch it back to one.

I'm not sure the compatibility pack sets the .docx file to be opened by Word 2000. Try this: In Windows XP: 1. In Windows Explorer, find a .docx file. 2. Right-click on it and select Open With. 3. If MS Word shows up, select it. 4. If it does not, click the Browse button. Navigate to the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office). 5. Find and select the file winword.exe. 6. In either case, check the checkbox Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. 7. Click OK. In Windows Vista and possibly W7: 1. In Windows Explorer, find a .docx file. 2. Right-click on it and select Open With. If a menu pops up, select Choose Default Program. 3. Go to Step 3, above. Hope that helps.
