Here's a bunch of young adult books I recommend. I've read some of these but not all. A lot of them are actually on my TBR (to be read) list. Most of these books are paranormal romances like VA (not all of them are vampires), but there are some sci-fi and other genres thrown in there too. :)
-The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Twenty-four are forced to enter. Only the winner survives. In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death - televised for all of Panem to see.
Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
WINNING WILL MAKE YOU FAMOUS. LOSING MEANS CERTAIN DEATH.
BEST. SERIES. EVER!! I love it as much as I love Vampire Academy!! :)
I also loved Catching Fire, book 2 of the HG series. I absolutely CANNOT wait for Mockingjay (book 3) to release!!
August 24 is really too far away.
-Generation Dead by Daniel Waters
Phoebe is just your typical goth girl with a crush. He's strong and silent... and dead.
All over the country, a strange phenomenon is happening. Some teenagers who die aren't staying dead. They are coming back to life, but they are no longer the same-they stutter, and their reactions to everything are slower. Termed "living impaired" or "differently biotic," they are doing their best to fit into a society that doesn't want them.
Fitting in is hard enough when you don't have the look or attitude, but when almost everyone else is alive and you're not, it's close to impossible. The kids at Oakvale High don't want to take classes or eat in the cafeteria next to someone who isn't breathing. And there are no laws that exist to protect the differently biotic from the people who want them to disappear-for good.
With her pale skin and Goth wardrobe, Phoebe has never run with the popular crowd. But no one can believe it when she falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids. Not her best friend, Margi, whose fear of the differently biotic is deeply rooted in guilt over the past. And especially not her neighbor, Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has just realized his feelings for Phoebe run much deeper than just friendship. He would do anything for her, but what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy?
This series really breaks my heart!! I adore Adam.
Book 3, Passing Strange, comes out in June.
-Glass Houses (The Morganville Vampires series) by Rachel Caine
When Claire Danvers arrives in the sleepy Texas town of Morganville for a parentally-enforced year at Texas Prairie University before heading off to MIT, her life takes a turn for the scary. First, the mean girls come after her, but a quick life-saving move to off-campus housing fixes that problem, and introduces her to three new friends: teen rocker Michael Glass, Goth Eve Rosser, and hottie/slacker Shane Collins. But Morganville's got more secrets to reveal, starting with one very big one: It's run by vampires.
I have not yet finished this one, but I do plan on reading this series. Richelle Mead recommends it to everyone who asks what her favorite vampire book is. Michael is an interesting character, and I'm looking forward to getting to know Claire.
Even more books:
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa (fairies)
Deadly Little Secret by Laruie Stolarz (psychic)
Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn (dragons :P) - not out yet, but I wanna read it sooo bad!! It releases March 16
The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting (psychic) - releases March 16
A Match Made In High School by Kristin Walker
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver (afterlife)
Token of Darkness by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (ghosts)
Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison - releases March 16
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (wolves/shapeshifters)
The Mark by Jen Nadol (psychic)
Night World by L.J. Smith (witches)
Thirst by Christopher Pike (vampires)
Graceling by Kristin Cashore (fantasy)
Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston (fairies)
The Summoning (Darkest Powers) by Kelley Armstrong (psychic)
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (fairies)
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan (zombies)
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld (steampunk fantasy)
If you're looking for something more *adult*......
I highly HIGHLY recommend Richelle Mead's Succubus series as well as her Dark Swan series. They are both awesome. But they are also both very *adult* which means lots of sex. I mean, one's about a succubus right? She can't live without it. :P I promise you though. If you loved Vampire Academy, you'll love these!!
There are summaries and first chapter excerpts of all of Richelle Mead's books at her official website:
The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward is also one of my new favorite obsessions. :P It's about hot vampire warriors. Nuff said right? ;)
Warning! You may become addicted.
I hope this helps you find something you like!!

You seem to enjoy vampire books, so I'm going to tell you about the greatest series ever written House of Night The first books is "Marked", it is by P.C. and Kristin Cast.. but don't read it too quickly! The series isn't over yet! It's a little slow for first few pages but give it a chance, it will get better. Another one is called "Ghost Girl", look up the description. It was pretty good.

That covers all the ones I know, but you might like these two series that are a little more Sci Fi.
Uglies / Pretties / Specials / Extras
Hunger Games / Catching Fire

look into Meg Cabot, she wrote the Princess Diaries but she also wrote some book about a girl who has a relationship with a ghost

Try the Darkest Powers Series.
It doesn't say that name on the covers though.
The first book is the Summoning.
It's very good.
I fell in love with it right away.
I hope you enjoy it.

Originally Answered: Suggestions for good books to read, teen romance, comedy?
Here are some of my favorite novels:
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It's about a girl named Bella who moves to Forks, Washington and runs into a group of vampires. VERY VERY good!http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Twiligh...
Pants On Fire by Meg Cabot. It's about a girl who basically has everything (popular best friend, good grades... and TWO boyfriends.) It's really funny because then her friend from eighth grade come back to town (everyone hates him) and she falls head over heals for him too.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. It's about four girls who where born as friends. They go through ups and downs together.
All-American Girl and All-American Girl Ready Or Not by Meg Cabot. It's about an outcast girl who happens to save the presidents life. Suddenly everyone at school wants to be her friend, but she doesn't really care... What she does care about is the presidents son...
Clique books by Lisi Harrison. The popular crowd has to go through ups and dows to stay on top.
Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot. It's about a girl who goes over seas with her boyfriend after (almost!) finishing college. After a bad break up with him, she goes with her friend and runs into someone.... It's a very good adult book!
How To Be Popular by Meg Cabot. It's about a girl who comes across an old book in her grandma'a attic called how to be popular. So, she follows the rules of the book hoping to become popular.
Jinx by Meg Cabot. If you liked Twilight, then you'll like this book. It's about a girl who has bad luck all the time so she moves in with her aunt and uncle. He sister is into witchcraft and I don't want to spoil the rest, but it fairly good.
Teen Idol by Meg Cabot. This is about a girl who has an advice column in her school newspaper. So, when a famous actor comes to her school and she's the only one who knows about it, chaos occurs!
Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen is also pretty good. It's about two girls that are best friends who are having a few issues in the love department.
Just Listen by Sarah Dessen is one of my favorites! It's about a girl who had something terrible happen to her and she's learning how to cope with it and befriends an outcast boy.
Good luck with finding a book! I hope these help!
