You don't mind if you're in a line and people keep cutting in front of you?
Let me know the next time you're going to buy tickets to an event you really want to see; I'll bring 6,000 people with me to cut in front of you so the event is sold out by the time you reach the ticket window. Then, we'll talk.
How did common courtesy, mutual respect, and common sense become social "norms"?

i agree with ur parents, stop writing him. he can't do anything for ur son anyway. keep the letters that he has sent u so ur son will know that u tried to keep in touch with his father for his sake, but he was being nasty about it. that way his father can't say anything to him that it was ur fault.
Ask yourself - why should I not cut in line? What happens when someone does cut in a line? What if you have been waiting in line for 20 minutes to use the bathroom, how would you feel about someone cutting in just before you?
that should give you a great clue as to why there is such an unspoken rule or norm -
Norm means things we do as a culture in general???
It is the norm [it is normal] not to cut into a line of waiting people because...

Social norms in general, are rules to allow a society to
exist in spite of the tensions imposed by the conflicting
self interests of the individuals in the society.
The line is a good example.
How would the Society benefit from a giant shoving match?

haha alright here it goes...
Im an expert in this. If you are going to CC and you are living at home (which most do) then staying up late isnt as much of an issue. My advice would be, make friends with someone in class that gets it. Get their number and try to hang out. This will be your hugest asset. but my BIGGEST piece of advice is this...listening?... go to the study center if you need it. I failed my math class because i didn't go in until after my mid-term. After that i was so lost i couldn't find my way back. They are soooo helpful as long as you catch it in time.
Some colleges offer housing. if thats the case you have 3 options and you can only pick 2: good grades, a social life, and sleep.
Choose wisely. But living in dorms does make it easier to find help with homework and studying. If you don't know someone, your friends will.
Good luck in your college life, don't party too hard, and enjoy yourself...
