My math teacher dosent teach?
Topic: Computer homework worksheets
July 20, 2019 / By Imla Question:
My math teacher is really bad at teaching at us. She gets so off topic everyday and barely teaches us. If I ask her for help on homework or a worksheet she just kinda gives me the answer and doesn't explain how to do it. For the majority of the class she just sits at her desk on her phone/ computer. What can I do to help myself? I hate to play the "blame game" but this is probably why I'm failing. How can I try to improve with a faulty math teacher?
@ Michael R. She does offer extra help after school every now and then but its only 30 minutes long, and half the time she "uses the bathroom" or socializes with other teachers. All the (9th grade) math teachers seem to act like this. Their all in their late 20's early 30's, and most of the time their out doing stuff after school. Ive considered going to peer to peer tutoring at my school, and im probably going to do that from now on.

When I don't really understand something I try to read my textbook or go on youtube or something to try to find the answer. You can always google what you're learning and you'll get a step by step sheet on what you're trying to do. Best of luck!!

She sits? The only time that I sit is when the class is taking an exam or to tie my shoes. I offer tutoring 3 days a week after school and five days a week at 7 AM.
Does your school have an after-hours tutoring program? Ours has one that goes from 2:45 - 4:15 PM on Tuesday and Thursday with teachers paid for the overtime. On Wednesdays, periods are shortened to generate the "magic" 8th period where teachers can tutor their students. If you don't have anything resembling this, I would recommend going to the principal and suggest that one be initiated.

Try tutoring. Also ask the counselors at school if there is someone available to help you on campus. They may be able to point you to a more reliable teacher. It is a shame you have to deal with this--the math teachers where I work are very interested in helping students.

Go to a different school if you can or ask 10th grade teachers for help. They don't need to be teachers in your grade. To solve the problem, anonymously talk to the principal.

Only your school principal can help to improve your math teacher's performance. In the meantime, you can help yourself in math by using a free website at www.learner.org to help you since your teacher is not.

Tell her "you just gave me the answer can you teach me how to do it please rather than just doing it for me."
