I accedently started a cutting trend at my school? Topic: High school problems writing an

Question: i know its bad. but im a cutter.and dont tell me to stop cause im not ready yet. but i will make an effort to in the future.i used to cover my wrist with bandages or wrsitbands so no one could see but then the scab would stick the the wrist band and when u take it off the scap rips and anyway it jus made the cut worse so i dont cover them up anymore.a few girls at my high school saw them and thought it was cool. i told them they really shouldnt start just as a warning.but they all ended up cutting and now its like a trend in grade 10.i thought mabye the girls would stop during summer but i saw those girls today at the mall and when a song by miley cyrus came on theyre like "aww **** anyone got a knife i have to cut my wrist, now" out loud for everyone to hear. i feel so insulted. those girls dont realize that cutting is a problem and some of us really do cut in order to deal and its not to look cool. i just think its really rude cause some of use really do have a problem with cutting. it just digust me hte way they flaunt their wrsit for attention. while some of use really have a cutting problem. sorry about my rant i just had to get it out.

It is rude and a big problem (one that the emo style gets blamed for a lot). If they're your friends, talk to them about how it disgusts you. Be an advocate for mental health in your school if you feel like it, or write them off as posers and just work on getting yourself healthy.

Cutting is nothing to take lightly. It can easily get out of control. Talk to an adult--ANY adult! It takes a lot of courage to stop. I know, I've been there. I know about the pressure of disappointing your parents, worrying that your mom will go crazy from worrying and being scared for you. I was able to stop, and I know you can too. Do yourself a favor, and overcome it.

I used to cut too. Yeah its bad, but I'm not gunna lecture you. Just know that you can end up with some pretty nasty diseases or things like tetanus if what you're using isn't sterile. I think you should tell them exactly what you wrote. It probably wont change anything, but at least you will have said your piece. Its not your fault that they started cutting. Its their decision. They will probably stop soon if its just a trend. you may want to let a teacher know, but you'd have to be willing to confess your own problem to them too. My point is you'll probably have a hard time reasoning them out of doing it if you cant get then to take it seriously. Sometimes getting an adult involved is the only way you can get teens to stop doing something stupid. If you dont tell an adult, they'll eventually get bored of it but there is no telling how long it could take. Good Luck.

Ignore those little mall girls who speak like babies. That's what they are. Immature. The absolute best thing to do to those is ignore because then they don't exist & if they don't exist, then they didn't get to you which is what they wanted in the first place. Don't give them the satisfaction they are looking for. Word of advice: Cutting can lead to an accident where you cut too deep but didn't mean to. When it gets to the point of your hand not working right, you'll wish you never picked up that blade. Sorry, but I care.

i used to be/still am kind of a cutter these people are PRICKS it's just so attention seeking it makes me feel sick! it's pathetic, and it means that people with ACTUAL problems don't get the attention/help they need, cuz people just assume that they're doing it to be 'cool' too. it's sick. in what world is cutting your wrist a 'cool' thing to do!? it's not a bloody joke, we don't so it for lols! sorry, they annoy me too :P sorry about your problem, it's real hard to stop isn't it. i still have moments, and i started giving up in january /: if you ever want to talk i'm here :) xo

Well that's pretty shallow on their part. And F'd up. And for you: There are alternatives to cutting. I used to be a "cutter". What worked for me, is just not giving a damn about anything. haha. Try to relieve stress by keeping busy, and finding things to do. Also cutting leaves ugly scars that you'll be ashamed of (again personal experience) Sorry you have a cutting problem :(

I know what you mean. I usually cut at around night time... sometimes right before I sleep. And I feel GREAT! Then the next day, I wake up, I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth. Just my normal routine. Then all of a sudden I see cuts on my arm and I remember that I cut the night before and I just feel like throwing up! haha it's disgusting. I love the cuts at the time that I cut, but I always hate them the next day. Then the day after that I stop hating them and I'm kind of happy that I did it. Then once the scabs go away and they're scars, I feel sooooo good. I look at my scars as battle scars. I don't know why, I'm kind of bipolar about self harm cuts, I guess. The best thing to do is: o Make Play-Doh or other clay models and cut or smash them. o Throw ice into the bathtub or against a brick wall hard enough to shatter it. o Break sticks. o Put a finger into a frozen food (like ice cream) for a minute. o Bite into a hot pepper or chew a piece of ginger root. o Pick a subject and research it on the web. o Draw on yourself with a red felt-tip pen. o Try counting down slowly from 10 to 1 o Put a rubber band around your wrist and flick it lightly. o Take a shower. o Ride a bike fast and far. I'm not going to tell you to get "help", because ultimately it's your choice. What I want you to know is that this "help" truly does help!! :) Just thinking of the reasons as to why you self harm really helped me consider stopping. Like I usually cut every time I got even a little stressed. (Like if I feared I would do bad on an essay, if my sister said something mean but never really meant it, if I didn't score in soccer PRACTICE, etc.) Then after that I realized that I didn't ALWAYS self harm every time I got angry at myself. I tried remembering how I used to cope before I started self harming. After that, I realized, I CAN stop.
