Authorities in central China executed a former Communist Party official for raping 11 underage girls, state media said on Wednesday, following an online uproar about the latest case of abuse of power.
Li Xingong, who was the party's deputy head in Yongcheng city in Henan province, was found guilty of assaulting the girls during police interrogations starting from the second half of 2011, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Li appealed against the guilty verdict, but was rejected by the Supreme Court, Xinhua said.
The case was widely discussed on Weibo, China's popular Twitter-like microblogging site, after reports about the rapes naming Li as the perpetrator began circulating online in May last year.
"Yet another great example of a party cadre," wrote one Weibo user sarcastically after the execution was announced.
"What is wrong with the party that they have animals like this in their ranks? There needs to be discussion about how to better select officials," wrote another.
While the government has encouraged people to take to the internet to expose corruption and abuse of power, especially at the grassroots, it generally keeps tight rein on what can be said about similar problems with more senior officials.
After briefly allowing free online discussion following the sacking in March last year of former Chongqing party boss Bo Xilai and the naming of his wife as a suspect in the murder of a British businessman, censors moved to block the topic.
The ruling Communist Party has long pushed to eradicate corruption, underscoring a broader fear that, if left unchecked, the problem could hurt the legitimacy of one-party rule and perhaps threaten its survival.
Newly appointed President Xi Jinping has vowed to make the fight against graft and abuse of power a key policy platform, but has made little apparent progress, with few senior officials being probed and no movement towards establishing an independent anti-corruption body.
Xi this week reminded officials of the need for a "thorough cleanup of undesirable work styles such as formalism, bureaucratism, hedonism and extravagance", state media reported on Wednesday.
"These four forms of decadence are the problems most hated, and complained of, by the people, severely damaging relations between the party and ordinary people," Xi was quoted as saying.
@CCP rants Lap Dog and SilySalty,
In case your masters haven't briefed you silly mouthpieces, ALL punishments of CCP officials up to present only limited to middle to junior level CCP guys with the exception of Bo Xilai and Bo's wife who are merely "victims" of CCP power struggles, Bo's sentencing is considered mild in CCP history.

With more than 5000 children abused last year you ask if executing this party man after he abused 11 children will stop the abuse. When the party places everybody under the laws of the land and makes all the people responsible for the acts they commit, then you will see less abuse of the Chinese children. How can the party be respected by anybody when they protect these kind of animals.

It sounds like you may have taken too much on. You have 8 extremely hard classes, maybe it's time you sit down first by yourself and determine if you really need all these classes for graduation or college acceptance. i realize that its too late in the year now to drop any, but maybe you need to be easier on yourself next go round. Once you determine what you really NEED to take nexttime, sit down with your parents and guidance counsler and explain that you feel its more important to you that you take the classes you really need and have time to get your work load finished than to overload yourself with difficult classes and not have time to get all the work done. Maybe you can opt for a study hall instead of a class that will challenge you but isn't really NEEDED. This will be an opertune time to get a head start on your homework.
In the meantime, talk to your parents about why your grades are struggling. They will probably still take away your P.S. but you need to be understanding with that if you want them to be understanding with you. Use your weekends, lunch periods, homeroom etc. to get a head start on longterm projects, to read ahead a few chapters in your books, or to review information you are struggling with, focus mostly on the classes that your grades are low in. you chose to take on all these tough classes, now you need to create a game plan to help you pass them. Yes, you need a break, but only after all your work is done. You said so yourself, your having problems getting it done so i would gather your "taking a break" when you should really be doing homework. And remember, your parents know your capable of more and want to push you to succeed becuase they care. And in the long run, your grades are much more important than a silly playstation so try and understand where they are coming from and be patient.
okay, so after reading your update, i decided to update my answer. If this is your chosen path of study, then you really have no excuse for getting a D or for not handing in your work. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but i'm sure you knew going into the program just how tough it was going to be. You need to get into the mindset that passing these courses is more important than anything else. If your so worried about your playstation and getting your parents off your back, let that be your inspiration for working harder. Talk to your guidance counsler about what you can do to improve. Maybe she can give you some time managment tips or something.
It become "the way" they dealt with the project. They coated the project up. the following in Canada the monks that dedicated sexual abuse the position despatched to the first international locations Reserves and they endured to abuse children there. the project is they were despatched there because it become concept it did not count number what happened to the natives. Now on each and every occasion someone talks to natives the following or maybe mentions they are Christian, the natives do no longer opt for to communicate or have something to do with any Christian. It gave any such undesirable call to Christians throughout. it continues to be an highly comfortable challenge in a lot of Canada. different Christians denominations produce different procedures of coping with it, in spite of the undeniable fact that the in truth thanks to regulate it in accordance to the Bible is to record the abuse to authorities even as there's a confession, and to disassociate any unrepentant perpetrator. There are also many warnings that could want to easily accept once someone has dedicated this, so as that the congregation would properly be secure.

nothing had happen to high ranking commander in usa military.
90% rape was carried out by high ranking official and some well connected people.
if death punishment was carried out, usa govt had no problem to eradicate the rape case.
so far,.they had no strong will to do so because of huge vested interest.
only one small junior soldier was punished for 9 years of imprisonment.
to calm down the whole crisis.
some say that such punishment was resulted from power struggle in congress to eliminate or solidify their power on their own favorite general.
yet, rape case still happening in usa military and getting worse.
the answer is no.

Unfortunately no and it will never will criminals will adjust to evade the law. However, it has shown
a) Chinese are just as bad as any other country, especially as several high profile cases have come up in the last 2-3 months.
b) Dispels the myth that its just "white male teachers" who do this in China, which is often used as a political toy to bash the West or Western foreigners living in China.
c) Has shown that China protection laws for this kind of filth are not clear.

Of course it can't stop all of the abuses, but it IS a step in the right direction.
"When your garden is overgrown with weeds, then it's time to patiently pull them out one-by-one with determination to finish the job. If you act too rashly, then you might accidentally kill the flowers, too."
EDIT: And, the thumb downs come from where, and for what reason? Sometimes, I swear that these CCPers can't even read. Ugh.
