Who was the editor of the Chicago Tribune? Topic: Point of view writing assignments
June 25, 2019 / By Marilyn
Question: In 1886? I need to do this for an assignment, I need to write to the editor from the point of view of someone associated with the Haymarket Affair. I can only find the editors from the 1860s, and early 1900's.

Joseph Medill, who was grandfather to Robert McCormick, a later editor of the paper. Medill also served for two years as mayor of Chicago, right after the fire of 1871.

It should be from about 1967: take a look at the link which shows a copy of the HAT that went up on ebay a while back, it should be similar to yours. That's a very cool find that you've made. http://ephemera.typepad.com/ephemera/2010/07/haight-ashbury-tribune-newspaper.html http://www.myspace.com/johnthompson23/photos/3801585 http://collections.museumca.org/?q=collection-item/20080250

You definitely should be taking LOTS of English courses now, and anything that will help you improve your writing skills. Also, a journalism class on the side, or at least participating in the school paper, will help. In addition, any languages are helpful, but Latin is probably best. Plus, of course, if you plan to go to college, which I recommend, you'll want to include the typical college-prep coursework.

Your best bet is a college degree in English or Journalism. Take lots of classes in English, composition, journalism, etc. Activities: anything where you write: newspaper, perhaps tutoring in English, etc.
