i saw it today (7/10) and i didn't like the movie. i've read the book before and i thought that the movie would be really good but i didn't like it at all. they changed a lot of stuff and i hated the ending in the movie. it defeated the whole purpose of the book

Perhaps you should read the book before you see the movie? That way you'd have a better idea of what to expect

well the girl has cancer, so there's obviously going to be some scenes showing what she goes through, and there might be surgery scenes, etc. judging by the book (which i've read about five hundred million times because it is utterly AMAZING!), i don't think it will be that bad. and also judging by the book, i think the movie will be worth seeing, and i can't wait ! (:

Jodi picult Is a deep writer. It depends on your age, but it shouldnt be too bad. theres been worse. Its mosty just sad, id reccomend reading it first to decide if you think you should see it. But remember that they change things in movies :) and i wanna see it too

I read the book and I was most definitely disappointed with the movie. I was aware that they changed the ending beforehand, but I wasn't sure what they changed it to. But what was the point of switching it? The books ending was so much better. I also think Julia should have been added - she was a main character. My friends all thought it was awesome, saying how this was now their favorite movie. They didn't read the book. But I just don't think they did the book justice. I liked the cast, though, and it did make the entire theater cry. So points in that department.

I'd say so. Its not inappropriate. Here's what IMDB said: Rated PG-13 for mature thematic content, some disturbing images, sensuality, language and brief teen drinking.

They show a lot of visual things on what somebody goes thru with cancer, I believe if the child has nobody close dealing with this horrible disease you should spare her the details for now.
