If you're after something epic, try Dune. Frank Herbert originally wrote six novels. Since then, his son Brian and Kevin Anderson have been fleshing the saga out.

Mortal Engines. era. maximum fantastic sequence i've got ever examine. properly, the 1st e book is Mortal Engines, i think of the sequence call must be Hungry cities or some thing. factor is, that's written incredibly properly and it has fantastic plot twists and OMG moments. 2nd e book isn't too great for my section, however the rest is fantastic and to precise it off it has a prequel. To me, the ending of the sequence is quite bittersweet. desire you like it too! that's like one thousand years or so after an apocalypse, yet technologies's regressed and returned to solid 'ol engines! that's incredibly solid and that i think of you will desire to a minimum of examine the 1st few chapters. :)

Do you mean J.R.R. Tolkien? Try the Inheritance series (Eragon, Eldest, etc). It might sound young but the language is actually quite mature, and the plot is original as well as interesting.

Might try The Dark Tower by Stephen King. It's a bit different from what you've listed, but you might enjoy it.

For a young adult/teen Meg Cabot's young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, Airhead and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.
