How to make a 14 year olds' job application/resume look good? Topic: 14 year old jobs applications
May 26, 2019 / By Affton
Question: I'm 14 years old, turning 15 this may(but I can't wait that long to get a job). I already know what jobs I want to apply for, I just want to know how to make my application and resume CATCH their eyes. I know they barely look at applications that are from 16 years old and younger, so I want to know how to make it pop? I volunteer at Salvation Army a lot, I have pretty good grades, and I can work anytime from 2:00-10:00(I'm not sure if that's good?). I know I'm only allowed to get a part-time job. How to make my resume and application look good?

well there aren't many job you can really do when you're young im nearly 15 and no-one wants to employ me :P good ones are: babysitting ($10 bucks and hour, you can earn $40-80 or more and the kinda are usually well-behaved, and when there asleep you can just watch movies), walking dogs, washing cars,a paper route, online market research or surveys (have your parents check out that its not dodgey), tutorting or doing jobs around the house for your parents. others include: having a garage sale, you get to clean up your room and get rid of all that old junk you don't want anymore (make sure you reallydon'tt want or need it anymore, coz once its gone, its gone), sell things at a market or stall, make craft items and sell them (learn to knit scarves and sew dolls clothes from fabric and cool crafty things like that) or set up an ebay account and sell things on there, you can really get a good amount of money for stuff :) and a good way to save is to be determined, have a target of something you want to save up and buy, and each time you make money, put away at least half, and you'll have heaps before you know it :) hope this has helped :)

Babysitting!! Parents pay really good money to get away from their littles ones for a while. Often it will only be for a few hours but average rate to charge is around $10/ hour. Don't let parents try to offer you low pay because you are young, often they will try to rip you off thinking you don't know any better. Ask your parents what the minimum wage rate is where you live. Do not accept any rate that is lower than minimum wage. Make up some flyers and ask your parents to take a couple to work (best place to put them up! Lots of busy parents there!) Be sure to list your name, number and ages of children you are willing to babysitt. Also list the times and days of the week you are available to babysitt (example from 6pm till 11pm Saturdays & Sundays) and what days in the week! Make your flyer colourful (try printing on neon paper) to attract people to read it! Be willing to work on weekends, this is when parents most often want to hire a babysitter. Try putting some up at your local grocery store as well. When i was 14 (8 years ago!) I useto babysitt all the time and it was GREAT money. Getting paid to play with little kids or sit and watch movies with them? best job ever!!
