They will help you learn more what-not-to-do than necessarily how to "draw purty websites." If you're like most us (programmers great and small, who know everything there is to know about HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, etc., i.e., how to implement a UI design, not how to design it), you'll find an visual design artist to do the layout.

While I can't give you any great ideas (sorry, I'm a developer, not a designer) I can give you some idea of what NOT to do. Visit Websites That Suck (yes, that is the real name of it) and learn from the bad how to make good things. Pretty good advice on that website most of the time.

well, if you are having trouble starting the book, then start writing the middle first and then go back and add the beginning later. also, try to be somewhere quiet so that you don't get distracted easily.

Noone says you have to start writing from the begining. One of the books I'm slavishly trying to compete I actually wrote the end of first, because I knew the ending when the start seemed like a blur of ideas. Write from the point in the story you see the most clear and work from there, what ever your seeing. That might help you.
