How many of Elvis Presley's songs were originally his? Topic: How to write a song beatles

Question: A friend of mine told me that he never sang an original song, that even Love Me Tender was previously recorded by someone else. That doesn't sound right to me, so was hoping you could shed more light on why he might believe that.

He co-wrote a few of his songs, but, for the most part, his songs were written by other people. One has to remember, however, that Elvis came prior to the era of Bob Dylan and the Beatles; until the mid-sixties the duties of the singer and the songwriter were mostly regarded as separate. To me it really doesn't matter that Elvis didn't write many songs, he was still revolutionary in what he did. We can't hold something against him using standards for popular musicians that did not exist in his day. Frank Sinatra never wrote a lyric in his life, but he was undeniably brilliant at what he did; the same applies for Elvis.

You can start by stating the obvious that Elis was and is The King. MJ was talented and sold a lot of records but they probably wont sell for as long as Elvis's has and still are. Elvis is in 2 different music hall of fames. Elvis had a movie career and was successful in different musical genres. Elvis was loved by everyone in all age groups. Elvis loved everyone and did not harm or abuse children.

both died of drug overdoses, both died at young ages, both were eccentric (look up their strange eccentricities), both were incredibly rich, both were talented musicians, both were divorced, both had children, both of their estates continue to make HUGE money, both died alone, both were icons, both had paparazzi following them around incessantly, both had rabid fans and both still do...hmmm that's all I got

elvis didn't even play guitar. his guitar had rubberstrings that made no sound. so he really just had a unique voice. not a lot of talent in songwriting

I do know Priscilla's parents allowed her to come to the US and visit Elvis. Elvis' aunt was there in the house and Priscilla just tagged along with Elvis' entourage. The one thing that concerned me was Elvis gave Priscilla a pill that knocked her out for over 24 hours because she wasn't used to taking any drugs and he already was using pills. That was dangerous. My Grandma married at 13 years old, things were done differently back then, especially in the South of the USA. By 19 years old my Grandma had 4 children.

I love how everyone skirts around the question, while not giving a true answer. Hell yeah he was a child molester!! What the hell is wrong with you people? Are you all fantasizing and wishing it had been you molested by the "King"? Is that why?! If he didn't have the name "Elvis Presley" and was molesting your 14 year old daughter, while being 29 years old or so; you would be quick to shoot him or prosecute him in court.
