yes, I will actually recommend the following, have diploma of tour guiding (and that is in the evening) in Helwan university, Faculty of tourism ..which is located beside Grand Hyatt hotel, down town Cairo,, they will teach you history phoroanic, Islamic, and modern, Egyptian mythology, Egyptian old language and writing,, and that will last for 2 years,, they have also a quick courses to prepare you to pass the exam of tour guarding (not recommended as it is very quick I think 3 months)

The answer is none .. sad right ? Parties aren't doing anything for Egypt right now .. Every one is working for its own benefit .. I don't like el Wafd now .. I think it should be re-constructed .. I believe the Communist party working well .. They have plans , spend a lot of money on spreading awareness and stuff unlike the "Masryeen El Ahrar" which will spend it's money on getting supporters ..NDP style "ya3ni"... Who am I going to vote to ? The Muslim Brotherhood / Freedom and Justice party .. You , Maadist and me will be arch rivals mate ! :)

I may vote in September if I can fly to the Embassy in Montréal. I want a civil state. My vote may go to Sawaris' Egyptian Liberal Party, which is my personal favourite, but it's not even licensed yet. I don't like El Wafd all that much because although they've done the most so far, they've done very obvious and logical things that any other party with enough power could do (e.g. starting to talk to the Nile basin countries). They have no clear direction or vision, and this is dangerous because it means they will cooperate with the Muslim Brotherhood and probably easily be overshadowed by them. I'm no fan of Islamism but I like حزب الوسط الجديد because it is an interpretationist instead of a literal religious party, it seems to mix a liberal ideology embedded in the popular appeal of Islam. It was the first new party to register after the revolution. I also like the Ummah Party and the Democratic Peace Party ... There are so many parties now. That isn't good. I would like to see all the liberal, secular and most moderate Islamist parties form an airtight bloc or coalition.

It's too early to judge them, we can say that all the old parties are not suitable for anything. It's not clear yet the new Muslim Brothers party how much it'll be affected and controlled by their group and anyway I don't believe their old people, I find hope in their young generation. The new party of Sawiras is not bad at all, but still it's a long way. Sawiras is has very good liberal and moderate thinking, but he himself wont lead the party as he said. That's the real good point about his party. Sawiras has good experience to create and support but not to operate a political party. So we have to see who else will join and lead there, it may be a major in the next 5 years. All the left wing parties are very weak and the old of them are too old to do anything or to play in the new era. Still we'll have many new parties specially when people start to know the rules of the game. I will support only a lebiral party as I'm enough lebiral and I can't imagine supporting socialists or religious background parties. I know politics and I say about our political situation now (the first people who reach the seats wont be the pure ones we think, so wait and see)

No idea about the 19-39 period. Egypt was pretty much a backwater in the world by then. Egypt has played a significant role in the world. It was one of the first major empires. Egypt has one of the older written languages. Egyption traders spread not just Egyptian but also Indian, Greek and Celt ideas througout Europe and the middle East. Egypt influenced the Hebrews as they stayed in Egypt for years and adopted some of it's customs. Egypt was the center of learning under Greek rule. The library of Alexander the world's greatest library for much of the history of man resided in Egypt. Under Roman rule Egypt was the breadbasket of the Roman empire. Without it's grain Rome would not have been able to feed it's vast empire. Under Muslim rule Egypt became the launching point of many invasions and being the crossroads of Muslim expansion and reconquest.
