Question: I want to buy a Motorola SLVR L6 on eBay, but in the description it says, "this is a tri-band phone, do your research." I checked the service coverage and it says that it is covered in my area. I am a T-Mobile subscriber, it's not on the website,so I went to the Cingular website, they only have the L7, and it doesn't say anything about tri-band. I am confused? Someone please help!! Tri-band means it can work on three different frequency bands. Some combination of 850 MHz (Cingular mostly), 900 and 1800 mHz (not in the USA) and 1900 MHz (Cingular and TMobile). Your phone will work no problem (as long as it is not "SIM Locked"). Whether it is dual-tri-quad band is of no importance unless you plan to travel internationally a lot.

If you have an Android phone or an iPhone then you can download the free Skype app. Then make sure that the person you want to call does that as well. If you have a data plan then you can use that, otherwise you can just use WiFi. Video service doesn't work for mobile, but you just use it like a normal phone call. So no, you don't even need to subscribe to Skype - their subscription service is better for business users.

First lets talk a couple of locked mobilephone. A locked phone signifies that only the SIM from the carrier that the cell is locked to will work. So if in case you have an AT&T telephone best an AT&T SIM will work. An unlocked cell permits any SIM from any mobilephone corporation to work. Telephones with SIM cards best work on the GSM cell community. In the USA, that might be AT&T and T-cellular. Verizon and sprint use CDMA and are incompatible with GSM telephones. Having mentioned that, there may be ONE huge WARNING that I have got to provide you with about unlocked GSM telephones. There are a couple of frequency bands which can be used for GSM phones. The two which are used internationally are one-of-a-kind from the two that are utilized in the USA. Thus you have to ensure that the frequency bands for the unlocked phone you are watching at have the frequency bands for use in america. For CDMA carriers Verizon and dash, I think the legit word is that they'll most effective activate telephones that were in the beginning on their community. Consequently a Verizon mobilephone can't be used on sprint or vice versa. Others have claimed that it may be executed. I wouldn't have any expertise in that part so I can not say what's correct.

Tri Mode and Tri Band are made up nicknames. Tri Band or Tri mode is another way of saying Dual Band or Dual Mode. Cingular Nor T-Mobile Use Dual Mode (Tri mode) networks. Verizon does however. Tri Mode phones can use Digital (or PCS) or analog services. Cingular nor T Mobile use analog.

Triband phones (also known as tri-band or tri-mode) are mobile phones that support the GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz bands (commonly sold in Europe, Asia, and Africa), or alternatively the 850/1800/1900 bands (commonly sold in the Americas). Various countries use different frequency bands for their mobile networks, and a tri-band phone can be used on three of these bands, generally speaking, chosen to favor two of the home country's bands, and one for roaming in other countries. A quad band phone will offer more coverage hope this helps
