When did it stop being the media's job to report the truth?

When did it stop being the media's job to report the truth? Topic: Steps to draw a conclusion
July 17, 2019 / By Beryl
Question: I know a lot of people think the media is one sided politically and that's not really what this question is about. Considering there are so many people on here talking about buried truths about our government, past and present, why is the media currently having some of the best ratings it's ever had? I generally thought people didn't like to be lied to. Or is the media really telling the truth and people who are really into politics just blowing hot air saying that the media lies?

When you step back and take a look at what the media is broadcasting, the facts are in there. For example, we get the basic facts about what is going on between Israel and Hezbollah. Like, we know X number of people were killed in this attack or X number of rockets hit the city of Haifa. However, some commentators put their own spin on things and it's really up to us, the viewer, to be able to distinguish between fact and opinion. We need to have enough common sense about things to draw our own conclusions.

Kent State University Ohio May 4th 1970. It was a disaster and the fault ultimately lay on the student leaders who started it all. What happened was the student body took over the campus offices and then vandalized the place and set it on fire. After that they all got together and rampaged across the campus. They quickly became a mob. They got to a point where the "National Guard" were standing and you have to remember that although they had guns? They were greener than the grass the mob was crushing! These National guards were "teenagers" they had never seen combat, but some combat training on weekends. They had no experience with crowd control what so ever! They were kids against a raging mob descending on them with anger and violence. The teenage inexperienced National Guard panicked and opened fire, then they turned and ran for lack of leadership in the rank and file. Four students in the mob died. The iconic photo of the girl on one knee with her arms wide open kneeling beside a fallen student was also misrepresented. No one stopped to talk to her. As a result it was believed world wide that this girl was a member of a "peaceful" protest when it was anything but. The girl was a runaway only fourteen years old and she was there with the mob because she was invited by her new found acquaintances to come along for the protest. She wasn't even supposed to be there, she was not a university student. Just a teenage runaway only fourteen years old and she is an iconic photo that the media still misrepresents. There's one case of distortion. Although it's true the National Guard fired on student protesters killing four. It's also true that the National Guard comprised of green teenagers with guns scared witless of thousands in an angry mob coming down on them. The media never really told that story and "Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young" came out with a great anti-war political rock 'n' roll song that helps perpetuate the myth of that day. The one who should have stood trial and gone to jail was the student leader who whipped the student body up in a froth then led them into a mob on a rampage. They never did do anything about that academic coward. They just put the blame on all the wrong people because of the Vietnam war protests going on around the country. To them at that time the National Guard were equal to hardened combat soldiers that killed women and children in Vietnam. They were just teenagers thrown into the melee with no leadership amongst the rank and file.

I can explain your contention in one short sentence. Lack of in-depth, academic, informative research by the consumer. PERIOD. You can imagine a world were everything is done in double quick time, No one reads a newspaper, a well researched book is a misnomer, real people political forums are gone and it is ever so easy to turn on the TV and get some lipsticked bimbo or a chiseled hunk feed you the events of the day. You don't actually have to engage your brain or research what you have just heard, just accept it as fact and go and disseminate the rubbish you have just heard to other uninformed fools. Yes, the media are having a field day with the less discerning. For my part they have a harder task.

Most of the media are owned by big corporations. Big corporations have always been concerned with only one thing: money. Not truth. (Not that that's bad for corporations in general.) So if more people buy magazines or watch TV or whatever when they show something more sensationalistic or with more of a slant one way or another, they will go with that, and it will get more and more slanted/sensationalistic until people vote with their wallets and their remotes. I don't think most journalists want to report lies, but they have editors and the editors have bosses and at some point somebody with a stake in the corporation and little or no journalistic ethics makes the call.

The media is owned by three major corporations and slanted toward a political party of their choice. It's called propaganda.

I don't believe the media, I believe the scientists. And every single one says the conspiracy science is rubbish.
