Any ideas on why my laptop is being slower than usual?

Any ideas on why my laptop is being slower than usual? Topic: Types of computer case screws
June 25, 2019 / By Braidy
Question: I recently went on a short vacation and left my laptop at home for a little over a week. When I came back to it, I noticed it was being a lot slower than usual. In case it had a virus or something(which I didn't think it did), I tried the system restore. That totally screwed it up so I had to get it fixed by professionals. They only kept it a day or so and then they returned it and said it had had several viruses on it, but was now working fine. I just got on it and it's still being pretty slow, but other than that it seems to be working fine. I noticed they had installed some new things on my laptop, such as a virus protector called "Avira" I also get a popup at the right bottom of the screen offering me an update for Windows 10(I still have Windows 8) I have to admit, it's really bugging me that it's still being slow. Any ideas or suggestions?

Its best to stop some programs from starting up.Press(ctrl,alt,del). This will take you to a screen showing different options. Click task manager. A window will pop-up, click the startup tab. There you will find a bunch of programs that could probably be slowing down your PC. Its best to disable some of them... Now you should also take note that computers slow down over time. Its pretty natural. On the other hand it could be something worse like Maybe your internal hard disk starting to fail or getting corrupt. In that case press the start button and type cmd. A result saying Command Prompt will appear right click it and "run as administrator".... If you have followed my instructions so far, very good. Now type this exactly as you see it on the command prompt screen. Sfc/scannow. This will check for problems on your pc and solve them .

You really dont need a laptop for high school, but I guess it sort of helps with homework and things because you can do it in Starbucks wih a cup of coffee. I got my Dell XPS m1530 back in freshmen year, and I have no complaints. It's fast, and duo core ( no idea what that means tho), but my friends (*computer freaks*), tell me that it's a good laptop, especially if i decide to kick back and play some games. Last time I checked, it's pretty reasonably priced.

I have a HP laptop,Windows Vista. I Love It. I got it from micro-center for $600 and it was more than my original budget but I bought it for the long run and it is really good for projects and assignments. and not only good for high school but I can use it for college and so forth. though it is refurbished; its extremely nice. http://www.microcenter.com/

I have an Acer Aspire laptop from Staples for about $300. It is quite small and doesn't have a CD drive, but it gets the job done.

Hey :) I hope this will answer your question. In the 80's and 90's when computers were enormous, yes they taken up a lot more space but all the components inside would have way more air circulation. As computers have evolved they have been able to make them smaller and smaller. Now we have these power laptops that can fit in your purse but only with a few small holes to push the air out of resulting in the laptop getting very hot. Usually, the smaller the laptop, the hotter it gets because there is not enough air flow. Your laptops components, mainly the processor is working hard and as a result, it increases in temperature. The hotter the processor gets, it automatically slows itself down to prevent heat damage making your computers overall performance slow down. On the bottom of the laptop, you should probably see an air vent. This is were the air is pushed out. If there are obstructions or the vent is blocked in any way, it can result in even less air circulation which of course makes the laptop hotter. If your lying in bed, try not to lay the laptop on the duvet. Try putting a book underneath the laptop. Also, leaving the charger in even if it doesn't need to be can make your laptop hotter. If it is fully charged, see how it is when you take the charger out. One more thing, have a look at laptop cooling pads. Don't go for the USB ones because they can barely power and they make no difference at all. I hope this helps :D

Hi Noz. I just spent an hour watching a tv show and when I came back to my Computer it was a bit slower for a minute or two. All I can think of maybe it needs a minute to wake up again. haha. Everythings ok after that. Does it all the time. Maybe that's the answer. Eric.

That depends on the software that is installed on the laptop. For example, it could be an antivirus program that starts scanning automatically when you're not using the laptop. Or it can be that the laptop is overheating because there's dust blocking the ventilation. Other than that, it might be a virus or spyware.
