Unhealthy cholesterol levels can boost your risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other problems. According to experts, there are four basic ways to get your cholesterol where you want it: Eating a healthy diet. Exercising Losing weight Taking medicine -- in some cases While each of these works, some people have more success with one than another. Many need a combination of approaches. No matter what your age or the state of your health, you can reduce your risks of serious problems by controlling your cholesterol -- and it's not as hard as you think. 1. Lower Cholesterol by Eating Right You've probably heard it before, but foods that are high in saturated fat and -- to a lesser extent -- high in cholesterol, boost your cholesterol levels. These include foods like egg yolks, fatty meats, and full-fat dairy products. You also cut down on trans fatty acids as well, which are more often found in processed and fried foods. But eating a heart healthy diet isn't just about deprivation. In fact, some foods -- eaten in moderation -- can actually improve your cholesterol levels. They include: Fatty fish, like tuna and salmon Nuts, especially walnuts and almonds Oatmeal and oat bran Foods fortified with stanols, like some margarines and orange juices 2. Improving Cholesterol With Exercise Exercise is another way to improve your cholesterol levels. Increased physical activity can have a modest effect on cholesterol, lowering bad LDL cholesterol to a lesser extent, while boosting your good HDL cholesterol. The type of exercise is up to you. Walking is the simplest and easiest. Buy a pedometer to measure your progress and start moving. 3. Lose Weight: Lower Cholesterol Being overweight tends to lead to unhealthy cholesterol levels. Losing weight can lower your bad LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. It also can raise your good HDL cholesterol. Of course, weight loss is usually a product of a good diet and exercise. So what if you've already improved your diet and started exercising but still need to lose weight? Then you need to make some further adjustments -- gradually. Once you've reduced your intake of saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol, you can focus on cutting out some calories. In the same way, once you've gotten into an exercise routine, you can step up the intensity to lose some pounds. 4. Controlling Cholesterol With Medication So what happens if diet, exercise and weight loss aren't enough to bring your cholesterol under control? Your doctor might recommend medicine. Do not self-treat yourself, and do not rely on a pill: cholesterol-lowering drugs have many adverse effect, and you may end curing one illness while getting another. Taking medicines is a drastic measure, and you can start doing it only after consulting your doctor.

as long as you have been put on acyclovir before the rash comes out you may be able to stop the full shingles virus coming out ie. the rash. you will also need pain killers (n lots off them unless your gp prescribed amitriptaline or equivalent to stem the pain... good luck.. if it is shingles.. believe me you will know!!!! (some cases of shingles progress with no rash.. just the swelling and pain... like my first attack - this is my 4th) as for the doc saying it wouldnt occur down both legs.. they said that about my face as it has affected both sides... left eye, cheek chin.. right neck and forehead apparently its rare but does happen...

Shingles (herpes zoster) is caused by a recurrence of the varicella-zoster virus, so you can only get it if you have had chickenpox. The fluid from the blisters will contain millions of these viruses, so others can get infected -- with chickenpox -- not shingles. When diagnosed early, treatment with antivirals (eg Zovirax) shortens the course of the disease. That is tablets, not the cream you get for cold sores. There is doubt as to whether it helps in established shingles, which is probably why his doctor didn't prescribe it. Paracetamol is good for pain, but if it's not adequate he could try something a bit stronger such as Solpadeine. Calamine lotion helps to soothe the rash. Steroids can cause spread of viruses, so should never be used without Doctor's advice. The previous question had an answer suggesting Hydrocortisone cream. DON'T, it's a steroid and may make things worse. Unfortunately the natural course of shingles is quite long and there may be residual pain after the rash has settled. If he is not getting adequate pain relief he should see his doctor again. Sorry I can't be more cheerful about it, but it's a nasty painful condition and once established the treatment is only palliative. However it's not dangerous in the sense of life-threatening.

Though most cases of shingles, it tends to occur on the torso, but for those with immune system issues and other illnesses, it can literally cover the whole body. Didn't he give you any pain meds? There are some herbal remedies that can help, such as oat straw, goldenseal, Echinacea, St. John's Wort and passionflower (you make a poultice of it and/or a tea).

The moment you are able to find out what is Your Own True Address, you will know the Address simultenuously. You are conscious of your physical body and all its activities and conditions, of your mind -happy, unhappy, lazy, etc.etc. -, of your own intellectual capacity and of course you are able to perceive the objects of your five organs of knowledge; thus aware/awaken to the perceived world in waking state, aware of your dreaming state as also you are aware of your sound sleep the last night. Thus, YOU are the subject and your body mind and intellect and the worldly things all are objects only. In fact you continue to live by sleeping, dreaming and waking to the worldly objects and therefore you know not exactly What Your Pure Self. Hindu Scriptures logically explain that your own pure real Self is what is otherwise pointed to as the BRAHMA, the ultimate reality. Ignorants believe that there is a heaven and there the God is existing etc. Naturally I would want to know prior to heaven where he was residing?

Have you spoken to your doctor about perhaps you taking a unisom at night to knock you out so you can get some sleep? There are sleep aids that are approved for use during pregnancy and it may be enough to keep you asleep even if your legs don't agree. During the day you will just have to deal with it probably, but you are so close, your baby will be here in 2 months... you just gotta hang on a bit longer.
