NEED HELP with a school project for FACS.? Topic: Fake school papers
April 19, 2019 / By Rosannah
Question: So the topic is a recycling game for kids it has to be a game that kind of resembles what you would buy at a store but like "school project" quality. so i want to involve like paper glass and plastic. it could be a bean bag game or fit this shape thing into this hole, but im not sure how "appealing" those are to younger kids. I was also thinking of some type of board game to involve cans and getting coins for cans like you do in certain states for bringing in pop cans.just throw any good ideas out there. be kinda specific and also if you could suggest materials too that would be nice.

"Dumpster Diving" - You have a plastic dumpster looking container that is filled with fake garbage. People roll the dice and move around the board to try to get to the end. Whenever they roll a double of any number, or land on a particular square, they get to go dumpster diving. There are points for different pieces of recycling you pull out of the dumpster. You only get to pull one item at a time from the dumpster and no peeking. Some of the items can be worth points; recyclable materials like cans and cardboard but other things are in the garbage too like banana peels. No points for banana peels and you have to move back 10 spaces if you pick a banana peel. There could be funny stuff like old underwear that means you have to go back to start or lose points. There can be a deck of cards with questions about recycling. When you land on a particular square you have to pull a card from the deck and answer the question or you go back so many spaces. or you could do a game on global warming. The idea is you travel around the board to different countries. When you land on a particular square or roll a double on the dice then you have to pick a card from the deck that has questions about global warming. If you land in Greenland or Antarctica, you have to go back to the beginning because the ice shelf gave way and you fell into the ocean. If you land on any coastal areas then you drown and have to start over also. Another idea, "Green Energy". You travel around the board and you have to figure out which green energy idea came from which country. Best of luck to you!

You could definitely use bottle caps somehow, or even pop-can tabs. Also you can make your own paper if you need to use any paper (there are how-to guides all over the internet). There could be a "downfall" thing like "accidentally throwing a can in the trash, minus ten points" or something like that!

Tea is excellent for making paper look old and ancient. :) First, use hot water and add some brown or black tea. I used instant tea (the powdery kind) but I'm sure a tea bag would work as well. Then, you can do either of two options. You can: Take a baking pan slightly larger than the paper itself and let it soak for about 10 seconds. If you keep it too long it'll make it too soggy. The way I did it was to use a brush or some cotton balls and gently color it over the paper. Use a paper towel or napkin to dry off the excess tea. Use a blow dryer to dry it off and then let it dry in the sun. If you want it to be wrinkled, then just crumple it up a but when the paper's crisp and maybe cut a few holes into it. Have fun!
