MLA Format-Paragraph? Topic: Essay format example mla reference
June 26, 2019 / By Elvis
Question: I am trying to cite something I took from Ralph Waldo Emerson's "On Education". I only have paragraph numbers. I do I site those? In one part I do not do an in-text citation naming Emerson and another part I do. So can you show me how to do it both way? (One naming Emerson and the other not). Thanks.

I'm assuming you are citing the essay from an online source? You generally only provide paragraph numbers for an online source if the paragraphs are actually numbered on the screen (vs. counting them yourself). If that is the case, you can include the paragraph number(s) in the parenthetical reference with a comma after the author, using the abbreviation "par." (or "pars." for multiple paragraphs). Examples: "A new degree of intellectual power seems cheap at any price" (Emerson, par. 1). or... Emerson believed New England had the upper hand "because it is the country in the world where is the freest expenditure for education" (par. 2).

The Universal Disk Format (UDF) is a format specification of a file system for storing files on optical media. It is an implementation of the ISO/IEC 13346 standard (also known as ECMA-167). It is considered to be a replacement of ISO 9660, and today is widely used for (re)writable optical media. UDF is developed and maintained by the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA) media use UDF version 1.02. These discs contain a so-called UDF Bridge format, where both an ISO 9660 as well as a UDF 1.02 filesystem are present on the same disc, describing the same filesystem. All standard formats for video recording on DVD-style media use some version of the UDF filesystem. * Philips' DVD+VR format uses UDF 1.02 with an ISO 9660 bridge for DVD+R and DVD+RW. * The DVD Forum's DVD-VR format uses UDF 2.00 for DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM. * Blu-ray and the DVD Forum's HD-DVD will be using UDF 2.50 or UDF 2.60. * Hyper Scan game console uses a version of UDF for the game data When combined with packet writing technology, UDF has the advantage of allowing files to be added to and removed from a disc through the normal filesystem mechanisms. That is, the contents of a disc can be manipulated in the same way a hard disk, floppy disk, or USB flash drive might be. This even works for sequentially written media such as CD-R, although files that are deleted remain on the disc occupying space. In Windows the disc appears as a drive letter, while in Unix/Linux or Mac OS X it is mounted to a directory. Typically for writing UDF in Windows, third-party burner software such as DirectCD, DLA, InCD, Toast, and WriteUDF is required. As shipped by Microsoft, Windows (before Windows Vista) can only read UDF discs, while current (2006) releases of Mac OS X, Linux, and several other Unixes include UDF writing capability with no additional software required. Older versions of these operating systems may have limited reading capabilities, and may not support more recent versions of UDF. See the table below for more detailed information.

Write it in parentheses like this: (Author's last name, page number) put the period after the parentheses, not before. If there is only one page, or it's online and you need to scroll down the page, write 'page 1'.

Tell a story. Put what each person says in quotes. Like in a book. EDIT: I just realized that you said you have to put the interviews in dialogue format, not the whole thing. Interviews are done differently. Kind of like this... Interviewer: So, blah, blah, blah? Interviewee (put the person's name here): Well, blah, blah, blah. Interviewer: Is that so? How about blah...? Interviewee: Blah, blah, blah.
